Desert Casita
The Desert Casita was a conceptual project in which I developed spatial rhythm and surrealism through the repetition of circular forms, elliptical rooms set on a diagonal, and sunken spaces mirroring their geometry. Through winding circulation and water features, I created a sense of curiosity reminiscent of the liminality found in transitional spaces. This sense of liminality and surrealism was complimented through the use of circular and capsule-shaped windows, arched doors, and transom windows in otherwise unexpected spaces. Influences included Jared Pike’s Pool Rooms, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Johnson Wax Tower, and some of Edward Hopper’s works.
